On my way to Wales

I'm heading to Wales! I'll be away for three-and-a-half weeks, with most of the time in Wales and 4 nights in Scotland.

Just to make sure I remember what I'll be missing, there was a roo in our front yard today. Actually it lay down for most of the day in the sun.

I'm going to keep trying to post to the blog and facebook when I can. There will be inspiration photos from the places I visit, possibly some sketching, and I'm doing a day of tuition with milliner Bobbi Heath in Worcestershire.

When I return, it's time to get into the next big challenge: officially launching the business by offering hats for sale online.

One last hat before I go. I made it to finish this outfit for a winter wedding yesterday.

It was a beautiful ceremony and reception, but a bit on the cold side, at Chapel Hill along the other side of the mountain. This probably looks like a cold outfit, but the dress is a wool blend and kept me pretty toasty. I had a jacket too for the windy moments.

Want to know how to block that unusual shape? Take one little round tin, tape it to your normal dome head block, and work around that!

Daily Hat: Two-for-one

This week's daily hat is not only two hats, but two hats from the same felt hood, and two different blues together. On my two lovely new ladies.

The first is a heart-shaped blocked from a lovely blue wool felt decorated with felt feathers leftover from a previous hat, and (of course) a button.

This one is just the one blue wool felt, all swirled and blocked into this shape. I love simple swirly stuff.

What do you think? Which one would you prefer?
